Community Service Specifics

Housing Neighborhood Revitalization Committee: 

(2019-2022. Gilroy City Council appointed a committee to review and advise how to use federal dollars from Housing and Urban Development.) 

     -Received and reviewed committee and community input related to City of Gilroy 2023-2031 Housing   

       Element and General Plan. 

     - Reviewed and advised council on the use of Housing Trust Fund dollars.

     - Reviewed applications from local non-profit organizations that work directly with elderly, the   

       un-housed, tenant rights and those with food insecurity. Advised council on how to use these federal 

       funds. 

 

Gilroy Garlic Festival Association:

   -Served in a variety of roles for 25+ years ranging from committee chair to board member. I was association President in 2010. 

 

Rebecca’s Children Services:  

   -2022 in kind contributions to aid annual fundraiser (via Orange Theroy Fitness)

   -2022-present. My wife and I are fostering a young boy. 

 

Stanford Organ Donor Program:

    -1/23 participated in the Stanford non-directed, Living Kidney Program.  This is a program where one  

    donates their kidney to someone unknown to them. 

 

Gilroy Sister Cities Association:

   -2014 Association President. Led committee in fundraising and activities that fostered relationships  

   between Gilroy’s sister cities.

 

Brownell Parent Club 

   -2015 Club President: Led committee in fundraising and activities. Help re-start Science Camp trips and end -of-the-year BBQ/activities celebration.  Coordinated student participation with local artist of 4 murals on campus. (old campus).

Gilroy Rodeo Gilroy Infrastructure Support:

  - 2022-2024  Assisted the 501c-3 non-profit organization, Gilroy Rodeo, with long term infrastructure and 

    beautification work. 

   - Donated in-kind services valued at $75,000.

   - Coordinated the acquisition of trees donated from a private client. Valued at $200,000. 

 

Gilroy Police Mounted Enforcement Unit:

    -2023-2024 Coordinated acquisition of donated trees and we provided tree and irrigation installation    

     services for the horse  arena located at the west end of Christmas Hill park.  

   - Donated in-kind services valued at $19,000.

   - Coordinated the acquisition of trees donated from a private client. Valued at $9,000.

 

Tree Planting 2023/24:

  - Coordinated the acquisition of trees from a private donor for Gilroy, and surrounding areas.

    -Gilroy Rodeo: See above

    -Gilroy Gardens: $20,000 value

    -City of Gilroy: $50,000 value

    -City of Morgan Hill: $6,000 value

    -DreamPower Horsemanship 501c-3 equine therapy for those suffering from PTSD. In kind services 

      $1,000. Donation Value $3,000

    -San Benito R.E.A.C.H. 501c-3 organization which supports county parks.  Donation value: $15,000

    

Pleasant Valley Community Garden 2023-2024

   -Partnered with local 501c-3 One Giving Tree and Nueva Vida Community to build a community garden with participation from 30 families.

Pinnacle Bank Advisory Board:

 - Committee of local business men and women and representatives from local non-profits who advise bank management on community and business trends and potential headwinds. 

 

Adams 4-H Garden Club leader: 

-Led students on gardening projects, fair participation and field trips to local nurseries. 

 

Gilroy High School FFA:       

-Coordinated no-cost capital improvements to school farm by directing a student work day and the use of generous local  contractors.

-Invited FFA students to our facility to participate in Tractor use and study mechanical ID. Offered use to students to conduct lab experiences. 

 

Gilroy Elks Lodge:      

Financial Contributions to support their scholarship drives

 

Gilroy Assistance League (GALS):

Yearly financial contributions to support their fundraising efforts


 

AAUW (American Association of University Women)

In kind services mounting plaques on local park benches

 

Michael Aileo Memorial Scholarship Fund:  (Fundraiser to help local youth pursue 4-year education related to agriculture.)

Financial contributions to support their endowment and coordinated local youth to help prepare food 100’s of event goers.

 

St. Joseph’s:

Financial contributions to support operations. Coordinated food deliveries to local motels during Covid.

 

Orchard Valley Youth Soccer:

Coached youth girls soccer

 

Gilroy Presbyterian Church:

Donate in-kind services to improve the site.

Chaperoned a one week teen-mission to Tecate Mexico to make improvements to the local orphanage. 

 

Downtown Gilroy Historical Paseo and Christmas Hill Park Monument:

Advised paseo and monument committees and assisted with cost-only construction of downtown Paseo and Park Monument
